Ari Lennox
Courtney Shanade Salter, born April 26, 1991 often referred to professionally by the name Ari Lennox, hails from Washington, D.C. and is the first female artist to be signed for J. Cole's Dreamville Records label. On October 21, 2016, she released Pho, her debut EP under the Dreamville Records label. This was when she gained her first the attention of her peers. Shea Butter Baby released her first album of studio work on May 7, 2019. Ari Lennox has released her music online since 2012, with the release of her first mixtape "Five Finger Discount" and her EP Ariography. In 2014, she dropped additional music on the internet including Bound. On July 21 2015 she appeared on Omen's album Elephant Eyes on the track Sweat It Out. J. Cole was interested by her talent and was looking to work in conjunction with Rihanna. On December 8 it was announced that she was contracted to Dreamville Records. Backseat was her contribution for the Revenge of the Dreamers II album. In the month of October, she released her first EP Pho. Ari Lennox appeared in J. Cole's Change song and opened with the 4 Your Eyez Only Tour 2017. In 2018, she was able to be a guest on two songs with her label-mates EarthGang on Nothing but the Best and Bas on Icarus. The debut album of Ari Lennox Shea Butter Baby was released on 16 July 2018. The debut single, Whipped Cream, from the album came out September 5, 2018 with a music video. Her second single Grampa on November 9. In November 2013 she released her debut album No One, and Pedigree. They then teamed up in the Creed II soundtrack with Cole on a track titled Shea Butter Baby on November 16, and it was released as a single on February 26, 2019 to accompany her debut album with the same title. The track was launched with a music video on YouTube February 20, 2019 has been viewed over 3 million times within the first seven days. In December of 2018 she performed on The From East Atlanta With Love Tour, which featured 6LACK.
